Logging In & Account Access

How do students log in?

Students log in using the Student Login page provided by their teacher.

Steps:

  1. Check the box Pick students from a list
  2. Enter the school password
  3. Click the Student Login button
  4. Select the class name
  5. Choose the student’s name from the list
What is the school password?

The school password is set by your school or account administrator. If you do not know it, please contact your teacher or school administrator.

Can students bookmark their class login page?

Yes. Once the class login page is open, you can bookmark the URL in your browser so students can return directly to that class page.

Why can’t my students see their class?

This usually happens because the school password was entered incorrectly, the wrong class was selected, or the class has not been created yet.

Why can’t students see their names?

Students will only appear in the list if they have been added to the selected class by the teacher or administrator.

I forgot my teacher password. What should I do?

Use the password reset option on the Teacher Login page or contact your account administrator.

Student & Class Management

How do I add students?

Teachers can add students through the Teacher Dashboard in the Students or Classes section.

How do I create a class?

Classes can be created in the Teacher Dashboard. Once created, students can be assigned to that class.

How do I move students to another class?

Students can be reassigned from the student management section in the Teacher Dashboard.

How do I reset a student password?

Student passwords can be reset from the student management page in the Teacher Dashboard.

How do I remove a student?

Students can be deleted from the student list by the teacher or account administrator.

Can I import students in bulk?

Some accounts allow bulk imports. Contact support if you need help importing a large number of students.

Getting Started

Do I need to install any software?

No. Essential Skills runs directly in a web browser. No installation is required.

What grades are your programs designed for?

Our programs are designed primarily for students in Kindergarten through Grade 6.

What subjects do you cover?

We offer programs in reading, phonics, spelling, math, science, and language development.

Can students use the programs at home?

Yes. Students can access the programs from any device with internet access using their usual login process.

Do students need usernames and passwords?

In many setups, students log in by selecting their class and name from a list, so individual usernames and passwords are not required.

Using the Programs

How do students start working in the program?

Once students log in and select their name, they can begin working in the program assigned to their class.

Do I need to assign activities to students?

In many cases, activities are already arranged in a structured sequence so students can work independently. Teachers can still guide or assign activities as needed.

How do I see student progress?

Progress can be viewed in the Reports section of the Teacher Dashboard.

Can students repeat activities?

Yes. Students can repeat activities for additional practice and improvement.

How long should students use the program each day?

Many teachers use the programs for 15 to 20 minutes per session, but this can vary based on classroom needs.

Can teachers create custom spelling lists?

Yes. Supported programs allow teachers to create or upload custom spelling lists.

Technical Issues

The program is not loading. What should I do?

Try refreshing the page, clearing your browser cache, or opening the program in another browser such as Chrome or Edge.

Audio is not working.

Check that your device volume is on and that your browser is allowed to play audio.

Images or activities are not displaying correctly.

This may be caused by browser caching or an unsupported browser. Try updating your browser or clearing cache.

The screen is blank or frozen.

Reload the page or try another supported browser.
