User Accounts and Responsibilities
The Official Stuff
- Student Accounts: Teachers or account administrators assign unique usernames and passwords for students to access Essential Skills programs. Students must keep this information private and use the platform under teacher supervision.
- Educator and Administrator Accounts: Teachers and administrators have separate accounts to manage student data, assign activities, and track progress. It’s their responsibility to safeguard login credentials and ensure student data privacy.
What This Means for You
Teachers and administrators set up and manage student accounts. Everyone needs to keep their login details private to ensure a safe learning environment.
Subscription, Payment, and Refund Policy
The Official Stuff
- Subscription Options: Essential Skills offers various subscription tiers based on program bundles and user needs.
- Annual Billing and Discounts: Subscriptions are billed annually, with discounts for multi-year plans.
- Refund Policy: Cancel within 45 days for a full refund. After 45 days, refunds aren’t available.
What This Means for You
Pick the subscription plan that fits your needs. If you cancel within 45 days, you’ll get your money back. After that, your subscription will run until it expires.
Permitted and Prohibited Uses
The Official Stuff
Essential Skills programs are for educational use only. Prohibited activities include:
- Sharing login credentials with unauthorized users.
- Using bots or automated tools to collect data.
- Interfering with the platform (e.g., introducing malware).
- Misusing Essential Skills content for non-educational purposes.

Use Essential Skills for teaching and learning. Don’t share accounts, hack the platform, or misuse the content.
Intellectual Property Rights
The Official Stuff
Essential Skills owns all program content. Teachers can upload custom materials, which remain private and accessible only to their accounts.
What This Means for You
The materials on Essential Skills belong to us, but teachers can add their own resources for their students.
Service Availability and Modifications
The Official Stuff
Essential Skills strives to provide uninterrupted service but may occasionally suspend access for maintenance or unexpected issues.
What This Means for You
We aim for smooth operation, but updates or technical hiccups may sometimes cause brief interruptions.
Termination of Accounts
The Official Stuff
- Account Deletion: Administrators can delete teacher or student accounts permanently.
- Non-Renewal: If a subscription isn’t renewed, accounts and data will be securely deleted.
- Policy Violations: Misuse of the platform may lead to account suspension or termination.
What This Means for You
Admins can permanently delete accounts. If you don’t renew, your accounts and data will be removed. Misusing the platform can result in account termination.
Data Retention and Deletion

Student data is kept only as long as needed for educational purposes and securely deleted after termination or inactivity. Schools and parents can request data deletion at any time.

Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada. Disputes will be resolved in courts located in Aurora, Ontario.
