Windows, Mac OSX, and Chromebook

Option 1

This option is best for setting up your trial on a larger number of computers.

  1. First you will need somewhere to store a file. This can be done either on an external media device i.e. USB key, or on a server if your classroom computers are networked.
  2. Open the program selection page using your trial link. Once on this page, drag the green secure lock icon in the URL browser bar to the desired location i.e. desktop, USB drive, network server. You will need to left click, and hold down the mouse button in order to drag the icon. Essential Skills Trial Shortcut Icon
  3. Once you’ve completed the above correctly, you should have a shortcut to the program selection screen in the location where you’ve chosen to store it. It should look something like the below image. Essential Skills Trial Shortcut Icon
  4. Copy this shortcut to each computer that you’d like to provide with access to your Essential Skills trial. This can be done either by way of your chosen media device, or via your computer network.
  5. The first time your students access the program selection screen, ask them to bookmark the page for easy access.

Option 2

If you’re only setting up a small number of computers, you can also forward your trial email to a webmail account e.g. Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo etc. and then access your webmail from the computer(s) where you want to set up the trial.

  1. Forward your trial email to your webmail account
  2. Log into your webmail on the computer(s) where you’d like to set up the trial
  3. Follow step 2 outlined in option 1 to add a shortcut to the desktop
